OUR ORIGIN STORY<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Veterans Disaster Corps came into existence following the 2025 Texas Hill Country and Ruidoso New Mexico flood relief efforts. During those efforts we encountered hundreds, if not thousands, of willing and capable people wanting to volunteer who were turned away because they weren’t affiliated with a recognized response organization. Furthermore, we realized that America’s veterans have an inherent skillset that makes them a perfect fit for disaster response.<\/p>\n

During the Texas and New Mexico relief efforts the founding members of Veterans Disaster Corps, which hadn’t even incorporated or received its 501(c)3 non-profit status yet, collected and distributed:<\/p>\n

$14,600 in donated goods from Amazon wish lists<\/p>\n

$8,210 in donated rescue supplies to local response groups & agencies<\/p>\n

$3,630 in cash contributions to the Ruidoso NM efforts<\/p>\n

$3,800 in cash contributions toward the TX Hill Country efforts<\/p>\n

The generosity from members of the general public made it clear that we were on the right path and that they supported our goals. To receive $30,240 in public support before we were even formally organized is almost unheard of. That level of excitement from the general public has given us the fuel needed to see this through. We are 100% fully committed to recruiting, training and equipping a first-class disaster response force. <\/p>\n
